January 2011

Today  Donovan is 10 months old. I can’t believe he is almost a year old already.  Time is flying!

He is:
*Crawling.  Finally! He has been doing a sort of army crawl on his belly for a while, but he just recently got his knees up under him.
*Walking.  Not on his own yet, but it won’t be long. He can get around with me only holding on to one of his hands.
*Eating.  He loves to eat and will steal the food right out from under you if you’re not watching! He willl try anything, but his favorites are sweet potatoes, my spaghetti sauce, humus, broccoli and of course Cheerios.
*He is sleeping through the night! Letting him cry it out was hard to do and it took about 5-7 days for him to catch on, but it was totally worth it!
*Height= 28 3/4″
Weight= 19 lbs 12.5 oz
Head= 18 1/4″

Donovan is still the happiest, most wonderful little man. Happy 10th month!

Hooray!!!!  A post!!!! I’ve missed blogging… mostly because there has actually been quite a few things going on that I’d love to share with you, but I haven’t had the time to do it!  Reading other blogs (while at work…pumping…) I realize how much I miss mine when I don’t do it regularly!  One quick piece of big news is Donovan slept through the night last night.  Yes, the kid is almost 10 months old and yes, he should’ve been doing this for several months now right? And yes, letting him cry it out (letting him cry until he falls back to sleep) has been touch and go for a while.  And yes, I’ll post more about that later….

But this post is to show you what wonderful work my dear friend Amber does.

She has started her own photography business and I’ll tell you right now, she’s going to be very successful!  So if you’ve been wanting family photos taken but haven’t yet picked up the phone or you don’t know who to go to, book your time with her NOW before she fills up!  She was wonderful enough to take pictures of our family while we were visiting at Christmas.  Here are some more of my favorites:

There are many great shots, it was hard to pick just a few to post.  Check out her new blog and more pictures she’s taken here.

Thank you, Amber, for doing this.  I love love love the photographs and I’m so glad your talents captured this moment in our lives.  Priceless!

Yes, it has been FOR-EVER since I’ve posted.  Sorry folks.  I’m still here, kicking it.  It’s been a little nuts in the Wilson household these last few weeks.

-Donovan got really sick: fever, a little puking, stuffy stuffy stuffy stuffy nose… poor guy couldn’t even nurse because he couldn’t breathe out of his nose for 3 days.  I was home with him and had to pump and then bottle feed him.  He made his way back to sleeping in our bed…we’re trying to break him of this habit now.

-We (me and baby) flew out to Oregon for 5 days and then Grant joined us.  We got to spend time with my family and friends before flying back on the red eye Christmas night.  Donovan mastered scooting around on his belly–not quite crawling–thanks to my dad, who spent lots of time on the floor with him.

 Donovan met his aunt Peggy, Uncle Colin and their kids, Zavion and Avalee.

My mom hosted an “open house” so friends could come visit with us while we were in town.  It was great to see so many people!  Especially my girls:

Of course we had to see Amber and Tuesday!

Tuesday, how you’ve grown!  I’ll be doing a separate post on my time with Amber in the near future.  Stay tuned.  Moving on….

One day while Donovan and I were there, the whole family (mom, dad, colin and his family and us) went up to Portland for the afternoon

I think it was the only day we were there that it wasn’t cloudy and/or rainy.  Hooray for sunshine!  We rode the tram

And we went to see the Zoo Lights!

Donovan loved it!  The people! The lights!  Can you say OVERSTIMULATED?!?!?

Baby got to spend lots of time with Grandpa Hi, and he they both loved every minute of it.

2010 brought Donovan’s first Christmas

It was great to spend so much time with family

When we got back to Burlington (barely…our last flight was the last one in after all the airports on the east coast shut down because of the huge snow storm that was coming!) I still had a week off from work.  Allison and I took advantage of one of those days to take the ferry over to Plattsburgh, NY to go to Target.

We rang in the new year with Allison and her family, along with some other friends.  It was a crazy night of cocktails, pictionary, cocktails, Dick Clark, Wii fun, and more cocktails.

As you take down your holiday decorations, remove that blow up snowman from your front lawn, and start your new diet to get rid of the winter chub you’ve already accumulated, think back on 2010.  What about it was fantastic?  What wasn’t?  How will you make 2011 be even better than last year?  For me, 2010 was wonderful because of Donovan.  Having him was the best part of 2010.  There are little things about the year I could complain about, but I can’t.  I am so blessed with everything I have and everyone that surrounds me in my life, there’s no room for complaints.  I’m not sure yet how 2011 will top last year, but I guess we’ll all have to stay tuned to my blog to find out!  Happy New Year from the Wilsons!
